Educational Leadership Training

An online educational leadership degree is designed for teachers who are interested in a principal or educational administrator as well as educational consultant. In general the degree is offered at the graduate level of study, i.e. the masters in educational leadership and doctorate in educational leadership. Some universities offer the degree at the Educational Specialist (EdS) level.

The program entails instruction in management, leadership and educational theory. Upon receiving your educational administration or educational leadership degree credentials you can become a principal of a elementary, middle, or secondary school; academic dean; department chair; or other administrative and leadership position.

A degree in educational administration leads to careers in educational administration, supervision, leadership, and school development while a degree in educational leadership is geared at careers in higher education, adult education leadership, community college and K-12 educational leadership. In 2008, preschool and child care program administrators earned a medium annual income of $39,940. The middle 50% made between $31,290 and $54,680. The lowest 10% earned less than $25,910 and the highest 10% earned more than $77,150. Elementary and secondary school administrators made a median annual income of $83,880.

The middle 50% earned between $68,360 and $102,830. The lowest 10% earned less than $55,580 and the highest 10% earned more than $124,250. Postsecondary school administrators earned a median annual income of $80,670. The middle 50% earned between $58,940 and $113,860. The lowest 10% earned less than $45,050 and the highest 10% earned over $160,500.

As the need for quality education remains a priority issue, the need for qualified education administrators with an educational leadership degree or similar will continue to be on the rise. This makes the online education administration degree marketable, and as reported by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of education administrators is expected to grow by around 8% between 2008 and 2018.
