Engineering Degree Online Programs

With engineering degree online programs you can specialize in one of many areas of study at the graduate or undergraduate degree level.

Engineering as a profession has always been highly regarded. With engineering degrees, you generally cover the essence of producing and assessing designs and drafts used to simulate and test how a machine, structure or system will work in operation. That means you would need to apply the principles of math and science to technical problems in order to produce safe, economical solutions. While you can focus on several areas of study, the two main branches of engineering are civil engineering and material engineering. If you are good in mathematics, chemistry and physics, you may be well suited for a career in engineering technology. With an online engineer degree online, there are many areas you can specialize for a variety of engineering careers as discussed below:

Expected Salary and Projected Career Growth

Engineering training is varied and specialized, both at the Online masters degree engineering and the online engineering bachelor degree levels. Therefore, entry-level engineers have some of the highest starting salaries in the job market. Petroleum engineers and Aerospace engineers are among the higher earning categories earning a mean annual salary of $92,520 and $108,020 respectively. Computer hardware engineers earn an average of $97,400 annually. This is according to the United States Department of Labor (BLS) data for 2008.

The BLS reports that specialized engineers with a bachelor's degree start out with at least $50,000. The range varies from about $23,000 to $65,000 for most engineering and engineering support personnel with an engineering degree online.

There are many areas of specialization with an engineering degree online degree, and the salary range is quite broad ranging from $37,000 and $120,000 year. The BLS also reports that the overall engineering employment is expected to grow by 11% between 2008 and 2018.
