If bachelors degree is in field other than computer science extra courses must be taken which do not count toward the degree. Foreign students must complete a TOEFL test with scores of 105 (Internet), 260 (Computer) or 620 (paper) with evidence of good English writing/speech and have a bachelor's degree from a U. S. School. The applicant must also have at least one and a half of full-time related work experience, programming ability, comprehension of data structures and simple CS algorithms with evidence of ability to excel in computer science. The program requires core courses and Computer Science (CS) courses, as well as electives, and in most cases an Information Technology Project course. A GPA of at least 3.0 must be maintained through all the studies, as with most masters degree programs. The information systems masters course requirements include: General Business Core Courses, Information Courses, and Computer Science Courses. A few of the elective classes involve Statistics and Data Analysis, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Global Business Environments, Marketing Concepts and Strategies, Managing the Digital Firm, Designing and Developing Web-based Systems, Electronic Commerce, Fundamental Algorithms, Data Communications and Networks, Data Base Systems and others. The last course is an Information Technology (IT) Project. In many programs, students are divided into groups to form a team project with local corporations, non-profits and government agencies. This project covers an entire semester and some students sometimes receive permanent employment with these agencies upon graduation.
