Nursing Careers in Canada

As a licensed practical or vocational nurse, you would work under the supervision or direction of a physician or an RN. Your primary role would be to care for ill, sick, disabled, or injured patients.
Nursing graduates work in various settings including pediatrics, emergency rooms, intensive care units, psychiatric nursing, doctor offices, insurance companies, traveling nursing agencies, non-profit organizations, and public health organizations to mention a few areas.

Expected Salary and Projected Career Growth

Some estimates indicate that nursing schools in Canada have been recruiting about 8000 to 9000 annually but the goal is to recruit 12000 students a year.

The expected average hourly wages for registered nurses in Canada ranges from range between $21.5-$32.5 CDN an hour. This varies depending on one's specialization, shift work, experience and geographic location and level of academic qualifications.
