Aircraft Piper PA-28 caught fire in Germany

Piper PA-28-181 fireLight aircraft Piper PA-28-181 caught fire at Speyer, Germany. The plane was engulfed by flames after the pilot started the engine. Fortunately there were no reported injuries, as the pilot and two passengers succeeded to leave the aircraft on time. However, the plane Piper PA-28-181 was completely damaged from the fire.

At the scene of the accident arrived 19 firefighters and several fire trucks, to assist with extinguishing the flames.

The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way. According to preliminary information, the reason for the fire is technical malfunction in electrical system of the plane.

The Piper PA-28 Cherokee is a family of light aircraft built by Piper Aircraft and designed for flight training, air taxi and personal use. The PA-28 family of aircraft comprises all-metal, unpressurized, single-engined, piston-powered airplanes with low-mounted wings and tricycle landing gear. They have a single door on the copilot side, which is entered by stepping on the wing.
