One woman reported that on an American Airlines flight she was forced to change her shirt by carrying a “Hail Satan” message.
The passenger, who was traveling from Key West to Las Vegas (USA), said a crew member told her to take off the “offensive” shirt or be expelled from the plane, BuzzFeed News reports.
Swati Runi Goyal, 49, said that at the beginning she thought it was a joke, because generally no one takes the message she carried seriously.
However, the woman believes that the incident can be considered as a matter of religious discrimination .
“Because they treated me this way, I can only imagine how they treat other religious groups, such as Muslims,” Goyal told The New York Post.
After reporting the situation on Twitter, the airline offered to investigate the case.
“Discrimination has no place in American Airlines,” the company responded.
A spokesman for the company apologized to the passenger for her experience and expressed regret for the handling of the situation.
In addition, Goyal commented that the airline contacted her to reimburse her for the ticket money and indicate that the investigation is still ongoing.
