Air Astana passenger airliner Boeing 757 successfully landed at the international airport Xiamen Gaoqi (China) with a defective landing gear. The aircraft took off from Xiamen (China) to Astana (Kazakhstan) with 4 crew, performing a test flight after passing the maintenance service. The Boeing 757 was climbing out of the Chinese airport, when the crew stopped the climb at 2,400 meters reporting a problem with the landing gear. Air Astana passenger airliner subsequently made a low approach to Xiamen for an inspection of the gear from the ground and was estimated that the malfunction do not allows resuming the flight to Kazakhstan.
The aircraft climbed to 3,000 meters and entered a hold to burn off fuel. The airplane was circling in the sky for three hours before burning enough fuel to be allowed to land at the airport. Fortunately after that the plane landed safely at the international airport Xiamen Gaoqi, being secured by emergency services being on standby.
In connection with the incident, almost half of the flights scheduled for the day at the airport were delayed.
The Boeing 757 is a mid-size, narrow-body twin-engine jet airliner that was designed and built by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It is the manufacturer’s largest single-aisle passenger aircraft.
