Britain criticized the report of the Russian Defense Ministry on MH17 accident

British Defense Minister Gavin Williamson criticized the new data on the circumstances of the fall of the Malaysian Boeing 777 in the Donbass, provided on Monday by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“This is a new copy of the Russian disinformation”, said the British minister said, answering the relevant question at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart Stepan Poltorak.

In this case, Williamson referred to the investigation of the Joint Investigative Group, which previously published an interim report, saying that an anti-aircraft missile system that fired a Boeing missile could be imported from Russia. According to Williamson, the publication of the new data by the Russian Defense Ministry is connected with a desire to discredit the Ukrainian government.

Earlier, at the same briefing, Stepan Poltorak called the report of the Russian defense ministry “a complete lie and another fake of Russia”.

The representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters on September 17 that they managed to identify a missile fired to the Malaysian Boeing and to establish that it was sent to troops on the territory of Ukraine back in 1986 and since then has not returned to Russia. The agency said that they were able to prove the falsification of videos submitted by the Joint Investigative Group and designed to prove the movement of the Buk-M1 complex from Russia to Ukraine, and also presented an audio recording of the conversation of the Ukrainian military, which proves the involvement of Kiev in the disaster. The Russian department, in addition, stressed that Kiev itself recognizes that the Buk-M1 complexes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could not fall into the hands of the militia of the proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics.
