Computer crashes caused small delays at airports, affecting many airlines around the world. The problem with the system of the Spanish company Amadeus, which is operator of a global travel booking system Altea and offers check-in services, caused large inconvenience and delays at many airports. The company was informed about the accident and started working in fixing the bugs.
“During the morning, we experienced a network issue that caused disruption to some of our systems … the action is ongoing with services gradually being restored”, said Amadeus in a statement.
Some airports have specified that violations of schedules are limited.
A similar case occurred in April when a computer crash briefly prevented airlines, including Lufthansa and Air France-KLM, from picking up passengers on planes.
The airport in Frankfurt reported about short lasting problems, as well as the London Stansted, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Washington’s airport Ronald Reagan.
Amadeus system Altea is sold to airlines to allow passengers to check themselves onto their flights, drop off luggage, and for airlines to communicate flight changes to customers.
