The Indonesian airline Garuda Indonesia will equip its 203 aircraft with a Wi-Fi system with free access. The company officially launched the free Wi-Fi network on its flights from December 28, 2018. It is also reported that free Internet access will appear on flights of Garuda Indonesia subsidiaries – Citilink and Sriwijaya Air.
“We aim to have 20 airplanes by the end of 2019, while another 30 Citilink aircraft will be equipped with a free Wi-Fi network by 2020. Thus all the passengers will be able to use the internet during the flight”, said Citilink managing director, Juliandra Nurtjahjo.
It is known that the installation of a Wi-Fi system on 50 Citilink aircraft is estimated at 40 million USD.
Garuda Indonesia is the national airline of Indonesia. The airline is headquartered at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, near Jakarta.
