The management of Makhachkala Uytash International Airport is negotiating with several carriers to establish regular flights to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan. According to the press service of the airport, in particular, negotiations are underway to launch the air service of Makhachkala-Tehran-Makhachkala.
“We plan to open air routes to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, where diasporas of the Dagestan peoples and neighboring republics traditionally live, and where there is interest in business contacts and economic relations with Dagestan”, said the director of the airport, Arsen Pirmagomedov.
Currently Makhachkala airport has direct flights to three international destinations – Kazakhstan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, the airport is exploring the possibility of opening an air service with China – to start charter flights, and in the future, regular flights.
The new flights are part from the program of the Makhachkala Uytash International Airport to double major economic indicators by 2025.
Makhachkala Uytash Airport is a civil airport located near Makhachkala and Kaspiysk cities. It is named after Amet-Khan Sultan, World War II fighter pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union.
