The owner of Vietnamese low-cost airline Vietjet Air, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, took 44th place in the rating of 100 most influential women in the world, compiled by Forbes magazine.
The richest woman in Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, became the only representative of the country in the ranking.
When compiling the Forbes rating, it takes into account such indicators as financial condition, spheres of influence, media attention to the person, influence in social networks. The list includes entrepreneurs, politicians, investors, scientists, patrons of art and people solving problems of global importance.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao’s fortune is estimated at 2.6 billion USD. She has extensive experience in doing business in Vietnam and abroad in various areas such as finance, banking, aviation, real estate, and retail.
She launched Vietjet in 2011. Now the airline is leading in the domestic market of Vietnam with a share of 45%. Daily Vietjet Air operates 385 flights within the country, as well as to Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, China, Thailand, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao also has interests in banking and real estate. She also owns three beach resorts.
