The Russian Ministry of Defense strengthens control over the airspace in the Arctic, revealed the head of the radio engineering forces, Andrey Coban.
“We are doing serious work to strengthen the control of the airspace in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. Already today, the units of radio engineering troops are deployed in the archipelagoes of Franz Josef, Novaya Zemlya, Severnaya Zemlya, Novosibirsk Islands, around the Tiksi settlement, and etc”, said Andrey Coban in an interview. “Radio engineering troops provide radar monitoring of the entire State border, both land, and sea, of the Russian Federation”, added he.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu said that “radar stations located on the territory of the Russian Federation created a solid radar field of a missile attack warning system in all aerospace directions”.
The Arctic is a polar region located at the northernmost part of Earth. The Arctic consists of the Arctic Ocean, adjacent seas, and parts of Alaska, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Northern Canada, Norway, Russia and Sweden.
