Ryanair is interested in acquisition of the bankrupted German airline Air Berlin. However, to make such decision and proposal it is necessary to access the financial statements of the company, according to the Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary.
“Ryanair needs information on the leasing, labor agreements of Air Berlin, as well as on the terms of contracts with airports in order to determine the extent of the necessary restructuring”, said the CEO of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary.
It is reported that Ryanair is also interested in buying a bankrupt Italian carrier Alitalia.
O’Leary said that Ryanair, which in 2003 acquired from KLM a budget airline Buzz, intends to take part in the large-scale changes that have begun in the European aviation industry.
O’Leary predicts that in five years there will be four or five aviation groups in Europe – Ryanair, Lufthansa, Air France-KLM, British Airways and possibly easyJet.
