US Treasury Secretary requested permission to use a government aircraft for his honeymoon

US Treasury SecretaryUS Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has requested permission to use a government aircraft for flights with his wife during their honeymoon. The newlyweds planned to spend a honeymoon in Europe and visit France, Italy and Scotland. They wanted to use the US Air Force aircraft for the tour. The cost of operating the US Air Force aircraft for an hour is about 25,000 USD.

The Office of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Finance, which dealt with the application, found the minister’s request inexpedient and rejected it.

A representative of the US Treasury, commenting on the request of Steven Mnuchin, said that such a requirement was due to the need for a secure method of communication.

“It is necessary that he has access to safe means of communication, and our task is to consider a wide range of options to ensure this access during his travels, including the possible use of a military aircraft”, said representative of the US Treasury.

Earlier, the media reported that the Office of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Finance is studying the circumstances of Steven Mnuchin’s flight on a government plane, which the minister could perform to view the solar eclipse.
