“Wizz Air’s W6 6401 flight from Kutaisi to Kavala on December 30 was redirected to Sofia after the aircraft was hit by a lightning strike. For the safety of everyone on board, the flight crew landed seamlessly in Sofia, and is currently undergoing an expert check. All ground passengers are provided with land transport from Sofia to Kavala”, says the official statement of Wizz Air.
The aircraft remained on ground for safety checks and ensuring the airworthiness.
There were no reported injuries among the passengers during the accident.
Wizz Air apologizes to all passengers for the inconvenience they have caused, but emphasizes that crew and passenger safety is their top priority.
