Young Mexicans developed ‘AztechSat-1’, the first nanosatellite developed entirely in Mexico that will go to space on a Space X mission by Elon Musk.
This satellite will allow interconnecting and transmitting data to the ‘Globalstar satellite constellation and will be launched from NASA’s facilities in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on December 4 at the SpaceX-19 Mission, according to the Mexican Space Agency (AEM).
“It is ready to be launched into space; it will be a historic day, ”said the Director of Special Programs of the Advanced Systems Division of NASA, Andrés Martínez.
The ‘AztechSat-1’ was made at the Autonomous Popular University of the State of Puebla (UPAEP) , in conjunction with the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the Mexican space cluster MX-Space.
“Our youth makes history, it will be the first satellite to be launched in the administration by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. It represents a whole conquest of the young Mexican talent in this Fourth Transformation, said the director general of the AEM, Javier Mendieta Jiménez.
The Mexican nano-satellite will be put into orbit by Space-X’s ‘Falcon-9’ rocket, in which the Mexican team worked. “Its performance is already comparable to that of many NASA engineers,” he added.
In addition, thanks to its technology it will be possible to maintain continuous intersatelital link.
“Great recognition to UPAEP and gratitude from NASA, through our Mexican pride Andrés Martínez, for his contribution to the project, since this launch will show that the talent of our youth can make history and literally reach infinity,” said Carlos Duarte Muñoz, general coordinator of Human Capital Formation in the Space Field of the AEM and head of the AztechSat-1 project.
The launch will be carried out by NASA, in collaboration with AEM, a decentralized agency of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT).
